This announcement is about the event with Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United States, His Excellency Lee Tai Sik.
This event is the first in a series of programs featuring Ambassadors of Asian countries in cooperation with the Asia Society, in Washington, DC, supported by the Coca-Cola Company. The program will be held at the World Trade Center on August 15th, 2006 with reception from at 6:30 to 7 pm and dinner from 7 to 8:30 pm. 
For this particular event, there is a fixed rate of $60 for all attendees.

The Southern Center for International Studies is in the process of planning its fifteenth conference with the former U.S. Secretaries of Defense in Atlanta .  This important event will feature a dinner with the Secretaries the evening of Thursday, June 8, 2006 followed by a round-table conference in front of a live audience of approximately 600 people on Friday, June 9, 2006.  The conference will be videotaped, edited, and shown on a PBS station nationwide. Invited Secretaries of Defense include:  The Hon. Robert S. McNamara, The Hon. Caspar W. Weinberger, The Hon. Frank Carlucci, The Hon. William J. Perry, and The Hon. William S. Cohen.  To date, the following participants have been confirmed:  The Hon. Melvin R. Laird, The Hon. James Schlesinger, and The Hon. Dr. Harold Brown. The panelists will discuss critical issues such as: the status of civil liberties in the U.S. and around the world, immigration and national identity after 9/11, national security in a globalized world, and media portrayal of the war in Iraq .  An experienced broadcast journalist will moderate and narrate this program.  Past SCIS moderators have included Edwin Newman, Charlayne Hunter-Gault, Marvin Kalb, Terrence Smith, David Gergen, Hodding Carter, and Judy Woodruff.  For this conference, David Gergen is expected to moderate. More details such as time and costs will be available shortly.
