Chairman's Message

It is an honor to serve as chairman of Atlanta’s Advisory Committee On International
Relations.
The importance of this committee and its work grows deeper each day in a world of rapid globalization where the international environment impacts all our lives. Former Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev said: “To arrive at mutual understanding it is necessary first to know one another better... This is true not only on the level of political leadership or among politicians in general; genuine mutual understanding can be reached in the best possible way if the populations of the corresponding countries establish relations... Hence the continuing importance of unprejudiced communications between countries, peoples, and citizens. ”In this modern age, no city or country can exist in isolation, and the lives of its people will undoubtedly be affected by the decisions, actions, and events occurring in other countries of the world. We live in an international world, and our education must have an international perspective. We must teach our students to understand foreign cultures, to be able to communicate with other peoples of the world at professional and social levels, and to be able to work with colleagues from other countries in all professions. This publication introduces you to the work of the Atlanta Advisory Committee on International Relations. We hope you join us in making Atlanta the International City it was meant to be.
